Welcome to Farmgate.
Our aim is to prayerfully serve struggling farming communities in mid/north Northumberland, not as a chaplaincy, but by offering spiritual hope and the love of Jesus the Good Shepherd, in a sensitive evangelistic way under the authority of Jesus: see Matthew 9:35-38 and 28:18-20.
Our objectives are to:
- Offer, where appropriate, one-to-one pastoral support via face-to-face, phone and email contact, with occasional farm visits, with farmers and their families.
- Have a presence at stock marts (Acklington, Wooler, Scots Gap) and agricultural shows.
- Signpost and refer farming folk, as necessary, to professional agencies and individuals.
- Supply appropriate Christian literature & resources to individual farmers and their families.
- Partner with other relevant Christian agencies and local churches in the above, and seek new ways of engaging with local farming communities.
- Act as a Mission Associate with Village Hope and Agricultural Christian Fellowship.
Where does Farmgate cover?
The area being covered at present is from Wooler in the north to Longhorsley in the south, and from Coquetdale in the west to the east coast.
